XPOSAT - STUDY ABOUT BLACKHOLE (A GIST)

Last year was a huge success with Chandrayaan-3. Our ISRO Scientist did a lot of unexpected acts and surprised us all. On January 1st, when this year started, India has proved to be a leading country in the world, not only on land, but also in the sky.
There are a lot of things in our universe that we don't understand. One thing that we don't understand is black holes. These black holes exist in a lot of places in space. From the fact that we are in a black hole, to the fact that all the earth and sun will disappear one day in a black hole, this is something that we don't understand. From the biggest scientist to the modern technology scientist, everyone is looking at this black hole as a mystery. To study this, India has launched a special Mission on January 1st named XPoSat( X-ray Polarimeter Satellite). On January 1st, India launched 10 different satellites through PSLV vehicle. It was launched from Sriharikota Island. There is no other international space agency than ISRO that is so successful in such small budget. We have launched 10 satellites successfully.
In XPoSat, there are 2 payloads. This XPoSat will be placed at the lower orbit of the Earth. After it goes to space, it will start studying about X-rays for next 5 years.
Supernova means, the destruction of stars. When stars reaches to its destruction period, it will start to explode, which will emit high intensity of light. After supernova, it is believed that the blackhole will be formed. Black hole is something where laws of physics works nothing. The gravity in black hole is so high that we can't even imagine. So it is believed that black holes are born due to death of stars. These black hole emits X rays, due to heat travels due to acceleration. To study about X rays emitted by black hole, XPoSat is sent. XPoSat weighs around 260 tonnes, apparently equivalent to 65 Indian Elephants.

TYPES OF PAYLOADS

1. The primary payload POLIX (Polarimeter Instrument in X-rays) will measure the polarimetry parameters (degree and angle of polarization) in medium X-ray energy range of 8-30 keV photons of astronomical origin.
2. The XSPECT (X-ray Spectroscopy and Timing) payload will give spectroscopic information in the energy range of 0.8-15 keV.
